Licorice liquid Extract

INCI Name: Glycerin, water, Glycyrrhiza Glabra (Licorice) extract

Licorice is extracted from the root of the Glycyrrhiza Glabra plant.

This powerful skin brightening agent is a natural, more effective alternative to harsh ingredients, such as hydroquinone or mercury, that can sometimes be found in lightening products.

Licorice extract contains 3 key active components (liquirtin, glabridin and glycyrrhizin) which work as an inhibitor of Tyrosinase, the enzyme that promotes the production of melanin, the pigment that gives skin its colour. When overproduced, hyperpigmentation caused by ageing and sun exposure can appear on the upper layers of the skin which becomes visible as dark spots or patches resulting in uneven skin tone.

It soothes the skin and is widely used as a skin-lightening agent.

It also has antioxidant and regenerative properties.
