Dandelions are packed full of vitamins and minerals such as vitamins A, B1, B2, B3, B6, B12, C, and D, as well as calcium, iron, magnesium, zinc, copper, boron, potassium, manganese, and choline. Herbalists use dandelion leaf and root as a diuretic. The spring leaves and roots of the dandelion produce a substance called mannitol, which is used in the treatment of hypertension. Dandelion is a fabulous herb for eczema, acne, age spots, and skin blemishes.
Dandelion root powder can be added to face mask formulations to remove toxins, reduce inflammation, treat age spots and other skin blemishes, and to fight acne. It can be infused in water or oil and used in lotions, creams, toners, and conditioners. It can also be added to soap and face scrubs.
