Description
Glycolic acid is a colourless, odourless alpha-hydroxy-acid (AHA) derived from sugarcane.
INCI Name: Glycolic Acid, water
It reduces the appearance of fine lines, irregular pigmentation, age spots & decreases enlarged pores.
It is very useful in exfoliating products as alpha-hydroxy acid peel, or in creams & lotions at a lower concentration for a more gentle acid-based peel.
It is widely used to rejuvenate the skin by encouraging the shedding of old surface skin cells.
Usage rate: 1-20%
Solubility: water
It can be used in the formulation of cleansers, lotion, mask, creams.
Note: Do not use glycolic acid pure and undiluted; the solution is highly acidic and can lead to skin irritation and skin burns.
Please also note that when using this ingredient regularly in skincare products, the skin will be very sensitive and needs to be protected from the sun. You should wear sunscreen for maximum protection.
